We are Planning
Well, here it is April 25th and we have most of our planning done. Our trip will last for 31 days and we are all looking forward to this adventure with great anticipation. We will travel from South Georgia to various places in Alaska (Fairbanks, Anchorage, Haines Junction, Homer, Seward, Skagway, Haines, Kenny Lake, Denali, etc), with stops at Mount Rushmore, Devils Tower, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons and other places that catch our eye. Our planned route should take us approximately 12,000 miles in the trusty Suburban. If you ever plan such a trip purchase "The Milepost" as this book provided invaluable information on Alaska travel. We have made several trips in the past, so we are not new at traveling together. The most recent was a 19 day RoadTrip to Palm Springs, California via 9 National Parks. We have also traveled to Niagara Falls, Kennebunkport Maine, Ohio Amish County in the winter, New England in the fall. Rod and Mike handle the driving and Janice and Debbie handle the snacks or should I say "hide the snacks". We never eat at chain restaurants, unless really special (Stewart Anderson's), only small local establishments that have been in business for at least 40 years, you can't be in the food industry that long and not do things right. We are all great friends with many things in common, the major ones are our love for our families, the love of life, and the belief that life is terminal from the day you are born, you should enjoy each day as if it were the last. The only thing you can leave behind are memories, make them good! We will be posting our daily adventures, pictures, lodging and dining here for all to see and hopefully enjoy. Who knows we may even give you some ideas for planning your Alaska RoadTrip of a lifetime.

I'm so jealous! I can't wait to read about the adventures. Coralie is insisting on being "homeschooled." I'm going to get a map, track your route with her and call it school:)
Love you,
Jana

Have a safe trip. I can not wait to see your pictures.
If you get a chance to go fishing in Alaska, bring me back a fresh Salmon!!! :)
Just found this site today and your trip has already ended!! Still...I'll read along and pretend I'm sharing in all your adventures. :)
