Day 1

Well here we are in Sioux Falls, South Dakota after an all night drive and 1535 miles. Left home around 6:00 PM on Friday and arrived in Sioux Falls at 5:45 PM on Saturday not bad travel time. Janice and Debbie started off the driving and each chipped in 300 miles, not bad for the snack ladies. We had a great breakfast in St. Louis Missouri at Connelly’s Goody Goody Diner, great service and fantastic food. The waitress’s name was Audrey and she was very friendly and made the meal even better, never an empty coffee cup. We made it to Arthur Bryant’s in Kansas City for lunch and the Bar-B-Q was everything advertised to be. After a short rest at the TownePlace Suites in Sioux Falls we headed out to Tea, South Dakota to the Tea Steak House, again a fabulous meal at a great price. The steaks were perfect and the atmosphere was that of an old style steak restaurant. The waitress recommended Bob’s cafĂ© for breakfast so we drove over to make sure they were going to be open, only to find out they open at 10:00, later than our desired start time. After taking to Bob, he offered to come in at 8:00 to cook breakfast for us and even offered to have us a broiled chicken to take on the road for a picnic. You can’t beat hospitality like this. He referred to us as Road People; guess you could call us that. It has been a great trip so far, great friends and great times....... We are blessed!
